I've hardly kept up with this journal the way that I promised myself I would. Perhaps my entries aren't completely productive, but at least I'm attempting to put my journal to good use, right?
There's really not much to report now, but hopefully by this time next week I will have interesting memories to pen.

I'm not sure why I was never given one of these journals while I was still a student at Hogwarts. It would have been excellent for correspondence. Owls are awfully temperamental creatures, and I'm not very good with animals. I suppose, had I known these journals existed, that I would have purchased one for myself.
...Of course that would've taken the fun out of receiving it as a gift from my cousin, so I'm lucky to have one now. Melania MacMillan here. Hopefully I'll put this journal to good use. Is anybody else reading?

Complaisant comes from the present participle of Old French complaire, "to acquiesce as a favor," from Latin complacere, "to please."
